On February 2, 2016, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number 9,252,615 to Superior for its Auto-Detect Technology. This gives Superior exclusive rights to the charging technology that helped the company pave the way for the development of smart chargers. With this patent, Superior has earned a total of 25 patents since the company was founded in 1991.
First developed by Superior’s Innovations Lab team in 2012, Auto-Detect Technology optimizes charging across both OMTP (micro USB) and non-OMTP (Lightning) portable handheld devices for a truly universal charging solution. When connected to a device, a charger with Auto-Detect Technology intelligently recognizes the connected device and automatically adjusts for the most optimum output charging performance required by that device; resulting in a safe, efficient and more environmentally friendly charge.
